Sunday at local flea market

The 1st Sunday of the month is a big day for us-Market day for the local flea market at PCC (Pasadena City College)

Compare to the nearby Rosebowl "Antique" market, this one suit us a lot better.

It is free... it is close by and it features hundreds of vendors, selling everything under the sun:

... African mask and beads, sold by a real African
... 400 years old bible (as the vendor claimed)
... vintage dress from the 50's (in mint condition and cost a little fortune)

But, then, there are always things that you don't expect:

Like this day, we ran into a guy selling some perfectly nice digital cameras with 3M and decent LCD monitor...for US$20!!!

Never seen this price anywhere. So, we think up an excuse to buy one. Just so we can have a good deal.

The photo above is me, picking over stuff of interest.

The leather bag that I carried was made from vintage cotton belt and soft piece of leather...designed and produced by yours truly--me.

Not the best design yet...I was afraid my stuff is going to fall out at any moment. But it still looks kind of cool.

I am scheming to make beggy 2.0. The next generation should always be better. Right?

Talking to self

Hasn't post here for a long, long time.

Guess it is because talking to one self is still considered to be crazy in some circle and a bit strange to the brain.

Who am I talking to ?

Well, in other times, I still write in my hand made journal. But that's a different story. The tactile of pen to paper, feels a lot more real.

And I know exactly it is between me and the notebook (or maybe the small god inside)

But blogging?

Is this supposed to be public or private.

I don't really know.

Two and a half year new

I have been thinking about writing my latest venture in life for some time...

Well, not so latest, as I've been in it for over 2.5 years now.

After a serious illness that last from mid 2005 to early 2006, I had made quite an unusual career detour: I became a massage therapist.

Now on Sept 2008, two and a half years has gone by and I have been working on the same ritzy spa for over 2 years. (Ha ha...)

Frankly, this thing would last for so long comes as a surprise to me: it all started as me doing something totally self indulgent during my time going through Chemotherapy.

It was no picnic in the park... going in and out of the hospital... long days laying in bed wondering what I would become when the whole deal's over...

During my down time in between Chemo, my friend Angela A. visited me and she gave me a most wonderful massage.

It was soothing, nurturing and a welcomed break from all the jabbing and poking on my whole body and system from the hospital and doctors...

I decided to take a class on Massage.

What the hell!!!

I was barely alive at the time and it was MY time to do whatever that I damn pleased.

That, became the start of an interesting journey.

Needles + Me =

Summer time, lazy time.

What have I been doing lately? Not much.

Just enjoying the sun and breezy and morning swim.

Ah... also, delighted to be a beginner again.

----------------------------------------------------

If you are like myself... you probably have your high school knitting project

finished by your dear mommy.

Cheater! (hee hee)

I didn't remember having any patient in crafty stuff at all when I was a youngster.

All that's changed lately.

To my own surprise, I fall crazy in love with CROCHETING.

(one of the first pieces...)

(see what I can possibly do with the most basic stitches...)

(how about turning side ways every 10 rows...?)

-----------------------------------------------------

While your typical competent crochet people are obsessed with double stitches...patterns... and fancy needle work...

All I do was just trying to do as much as I can with my basic single stitches.

Trying different stuff...

failing terribly...

having lots of fun.

When was the last time I was a beginner?

When was the last time that everything I do is an "improvement" over the previous one?

Ha ha ha ha ha... I am loving it.

In my humble opinion: It is good for one's soul to be a total idiot beginner in a regular basis.

Liberating.
